When the materials play the main role

Cured wooden flooring at Sandra Asplund’s home on Lidingö

When one of Sweden’s biggest names in interior design opens up her home, attention has been paid on light and materials, and in the combined kitchen and living room on the first floor in the 1950s house on Lidingö, outside Stockholm, you will find Bjelin’s Cured Oak flooring.

Sandra runs the interior and furniture store Asplund in Stockholm with her husband Thomas and his brother Michael. The store was started in the early 1990s and has in many ways characterized Swedish design and furniture manufacturing, especially through the collaboration with Jonas Bohlin, who is behind many modern furniture classics such as the storage series “Snö“.

The Asplunds chose Bjelin’s Cured Oak flooring for its combination of durability and hard wearing properties for the kitchen section as well as for its aesthetic features in the more representative parts of the house. The clickable oak floor is available in a variety of shades and different widths and is manufactured in Viken, southern Sweden.

- Everyone talks about sustainability today, Asplund makes furniture which are not only beautiful in photos, we make furniture which we plan to continue to manufacture. That’s why we appreciate Bjelin’s products and that we share the same philosophy in regards to quality that will hold over time and trends that come and go, says Sandra Asplund.
