The intricate layout of a herringbone wood floor is part of its timeless charm – but how do you keep your Woodura Herringbone looking its best? We asked our Technical Sales Manager Anders Carlsson for advice.
“The key is to use dry cleaning methods as much as possible,” explains Anders. “Vacuuming and dry sweeping should always be your first step. If you spill something, spot-clean the area rather than washing the whole floor.”
When it’s time for a deeper clean, a lightly damp – not wet – approach works best. “Avoid tools that release a lot of water, such as string mops,” Anders adds. “Use a microfibre mop instead, since it leaves only a thin, fast-drying film and lifts dirt effectively.”
Another important tip is to rinse or change your mop frequently. “Don’t spread dirt around,” says Anders. “For example, just inside the entrance, you might rinse your mop after a single run over that particular area, while the living room could manage a full round before rinsing.”
Because herringbone flooring has more joints, it’s even more important to use minimal water to keep it looking its best. “The floor should dry within two to three minutes after damp mopping,” advises Anders. “That’s how you know you’re using the right amount of water.”
With these simple steps, your herringbone floor will stay clean, beautiful and well-protected – preserving its elegant look for years to come.
