Hotel in Svalbard

One of Petter Stordalen's latest hotels within the Nordic Choice hotel chain has been recently renovated with a high focus on design and service with the goal of becoming Svalbard's best hotel.

The Funken Lodge, operated by Hurtigruten Svalbard, offers panoramic views of Longyearbyen, Svalbard's largest city. So in the hotel's excellent restaurant you will not only enjoy good food and drinks, but also an incredible view of one of the world's most exotic places.

In the lounge, the bar, the lobby and other public spaces, the interior designers have installed Bjelin's wide plank in Cured oak, treated with a dark hardwax oil - which contributes to a comfortable and homely interior environment. At the same time, the unique properties of the floor make it suitable for these hard-wearing surfaces in the building. The same dark hardwood flooring is also housed in 70 of the hotel's 88 rooms.
